I am so glad that it is 2017. Grade four and five went by quick and now I am ready to start a new year. I will be in The Little Mermaid production and I am very excited for that.  I want o try make this the best year since it is my last at Senior Primary. This year I  would like to learn to play piano well and try make it to the A team for hockey. I would like to try and get  95% as my average this year. I am looking forward to Grade 6 camp. All camps have been really fun so I  am sure this on will be fun too. I am hoping there is also a choir camp this year like there was last year. I like the projects we are doing around Wicked. In Technology we have designed hats and are making them from fused plastic. The Grade 6 teachers are all really nice. I am sure this will be a really great year!

Instant Messaging Guidlines

In IT we have been learning about instant messaging and how we should be careful of the messages we send. When someone sends a message we can not see their facial expression and we can not here their tone so we do not know how they are feeling. We were partnered with one of the Grade 4s from the Pheasants class. We spoke to them about instant messaging and how we can't see the facial expression or here the tone. We also explained what facial expression and tone meant and how we should use more words to explain how we are feeling or someone might take your message wrong. We have learnt a lot on instant messaging and I hope the Grade 4s did too.      Created in Google Drawings

Last week the Grade 6s had a poetry ILT. ILT stands for Integrated Learning Task. In the ILT we had 6 tasks to do and a self reflection. Our teachers divided us up into groups of three. For task 1 we had to make a video explaining the definition for poetry words. The second task was poetry writing. We had to choose a theme and we each chose a form of poetry and we wrote one poem each. . My group chose galaxy. This is one of our poems: Blue: Blue is the sky full of stars Blue is the sky reflecting onto to the sea Blue is the beauty write from afar Blue is the colour of me for I am the galaxy  For task 3 was black out poetry. We took a page from a book and we chose words from the page to form a poem. Then we used whiteboard marker to go over the words we didn't need. Task four was the poetry slam. I quite enjoyed that task. We wrote a poem and practiced it to perform it to the rest of the grade the next day. For task 5 we chose a poem and answered questions on it. Task 6 wa...

Wonder

In grade 6 we have read a great book called Wonder by R.J. Palacio. It's a book about a boy called August who has a face deformity and he is going to school for the first time and tells of his life at school and how he makes friends and gets through fifth grade. What stood out for me in this book was how in the end everyone in the school was a lot more kind to August once they saw how normal he was on the inside and that he had feelings to. What also stood out was how loving and supportive August's family was. I feel the story has changed me to see past someones looks and always be kind to anyone no matter how they look. This story has shown me that everyone should be treated with kindness even though we might be different to each other. I think Summer is a character I would identify with most because she is a kind and caring girl who treats everyone equally. She is someone who looks at the inside of a person and not the outside. I think this a really amazing book that ...
